Temple Run for IOS runs past 36 Million in downloads mark; Android version coming this month.
Super duper popular endless running game Temple Run has been slowly gaining momentum ever since its release last Summer. It was first made available for $.99, but some months after its initial launch, it changed to be a freemium title that gives players the option of purchasing in-game coins. Since going free, Temple Run has been downloaded a crazy number of times. Try over 36 million times. Yea, that's crazy.
If you haven't played Temple Run, it has a very simple concept: You escape from a temple while small group of bloodthirsty monkeys stalks you in hopes you'll make a mistake and be killed a number of interesting ways. Along the way you'll collect coins while avoiding a number of obstacles. Since this is an endless running game, your demise is inevitable, but the farther you go, the higher your point total is. The game also supports Game Center leader boards which makes it easier to compare how much better you are at outrunning monkeys than your friends are.
Android gamers should take note that the developers plan on releasing an Android version of the game some time month, although the game was postponed from its original launch date window of last week. No word yet on which devices will be compatible at launch, but seeing that the game isn't completely hardware intensive, I can't see why the game wouldn't be available on a wide range of Android devices.
Temple Run is completely free to to play on iOS and over 36 million people cant be wrong about a game. That is, unless we're talking about Angry Birds.
